EUR/USD Finds Support Near 1.0750 Ahead Of Eurozone Retail Sales Data

EUR/USD fluctuated around 1.0770, kicking off a new trading week. EUR/USD rose after better-than-expected Purchasing Managers Index (PMI) data released in early trading on Monday, and then fluctuated above 1.0750 ahead of the release of Eurozone retail sales data during the European market on Tuesday.

The Hamburg Commercial Banking Services Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) for April, released on Monday, unexpectedly rose to 53.3 on a monthly basis, versus expectations of 52.9. European retail sales due to be released on Tuesday will be the day’s key data, with markets expecting euro zone retail sales to rebound to 0.6% in March after recording -0.5% the previous month.

U.S. data this week remains tepid, with speeches from Federal Reserve officials this week set to be in focus. The week will end with Friday’s University of Michigan Consumer Sentiment Index, which is expected to fall to 77.0 in May after recording 77.2 last month.
