Samsung Electronics is reportedly preparing to diversify its OLED panel suppliers by incorporating Chinese manufacturer BOE into its upcoming Galaxy S27 series. Traditionally, Samsung Display has been the exclusive provider of OLED screens for Samsung’s flagship Galaxy S smartphones. However, insider sources now reveal that BOE is in advanced talks with Samsung’s Mobile Experience division to supply OLED panels for selected Galaxy S27 models.
Industry insiders note that BOE’s OLED panels are priced about five dollars less per unit than those from Samsung Display. While this price difference may appear small on an individual basis, the overall savings could be substantial when scaled across millions of devices. This strategic move aligns with Samsung’s ongoing efforts to manage rising production costs amid increased prices for memory chips and other essential components.
BOE’s potential role in Samsung’s flagship lineup represents a significant shift in the competitive dynamics of smartphone display manufacturing. The Chinese firm has already contributed panels to mid-tier Samsung devices like the Galaxy A73, often working alongside TCL CSOT. Relations between BOE and Samsung Display have improved markedly in recent months.
