AUD/USD is consolidating above 0.6400 in Asia on Friday, rebounding from a one-week low recorded on Thursday. The Australian dollar may experience downward pressure due to weak Australian employment data due on Thursday.
The pair met resistance at 0.6434, the 5-day EMA, and then at the psychological level of 0.6450. A move above the latter could push AUD/USD towards the 9-day EMA at 0.6470 and then the 23.6% retracement at 0.6489.
On the downside, the one-week low of 0.6364 acts as short-term support, followed by the psychological level of 0.6350. The MACD remains in negative territory with divergence below its signal line, suggesting a bearish AUD/USD.
Moreover, the 14-day relative strength indicator continues to sit below 50, reinforcing the confirmation of AUD/USD traders’ bearish bias.
